It’s been a slow, slow journey of life for me as I didn’t get the entire special loving my other friends enjoyed. See, I was hit by car and it shattered my pelvis and hip joint and my owners did not get it fixed so my rear leg healed all wrong.
HBR saw my potential; I had something called a micro hip replacement (but due to COVID, they were not performing this operation for a while) so I hard to wait. I finally had surgery, November 8th and have been doing daily physical therapy, but still not stable on my back feet and need to build up more muscle mass. (you can see my backside photo of my strong leg and my week leg), but the good news my hair is almost grown back. HBR took me to a rehab facility for more therapy, but this surgery requires some more rehab when I get adopted. I will also require monthly medicine of joint support (Cosequin/Glucosamine) to prevent arthritis in my rear legs. I have been working very hard, but after holding my leg up when I ran for so long, this thing of putting my foot down on the ground just doesn't connect yet. Because of this injury, it would be best if I was not crated all day so I can continue to heal and move around and get that exercise required. I promise, I want to get better and learn to run faster.
I like to play with dogs of all sizes and love hugs from the kids. I even get along with those furry things called cats. I just leave them alone when they try to snuggle next to me and there's no problem. I am gentle, very well behaved and I absolutely love attention. I am potty-trained and tell my foster mom when it’s time by sitting and looking into her face or going to the back door.
So far, I have been schooled to sit, stay and come; I understand “no” and “kennel-up.” I like running and also basking in the sunlight or laying outside in the shade as my foster mom works in the garden. I am learning walking on the leash, but all these smells get me excited that I pull heavily from side to side (probably some extra training would help). I can even put myself in my crate when it’s time, but my foster's family bed is so comfy and comes with an automatic massage, that yes, I end up between them nice and cozy. Wow, did I luck out! This foster-home-school is the best.
I really need to gain some weight since I am pretty skinny right now. My foster mom has been fattening me up with three small meals a day along with yummy treats for minding my manners. But, you know, I’m ready to find a real forever home now.
I am heartworm positive and require treatment to get rid of them as they are treatable.
I am getting healthier and ready to find my forever family.
