ADDISON here and I'm a 1.5 year old Boxer girl. Given where I came from, the folks here that my real birth sister may be Wilma. Anywho, clearly I had a bit of a rough life where I came from, so we are going to have to talk about my ears. I know, first thing you saw. My prior people tried to crop my ears themselves and did not do it correctly, so they just lay on top of my head - flat. Now, I think that this is a very cute feature that makes me unique and stand out from other Boxers. I know if you adopt me you will think it is cute as well.
I'm in a foster home with other dogs and Hoomans and I love all of them. I like to play, and bounce, and play with toys, and lay on the bed, and play...and then I like to cuddle. I especially like to cuddle, prefrerably with Hoomans, but my foster brother works too. We have snoreathons as my foster mom calls its.
I am kennel trained, but whine a little when you first put me in there because I miss snuggling with you. My foster parents have had me 3 weeks and I have learned to ring the bell to go potty, I haven't had an accident in the house in a week (My foster mom says I am doing so great). But I am still afraid someone is going to leave me, so you have to go outside with me until I do my business. I do love to play and am learning what is appropriate to play with and what is not. Knot balls and regular tennis balls are my favorite. And of course my foster brother is fun too. We are about to start working on sit and stay since I just got potty down. I am eager to learn. I get really excited about the leash, but haven't mastered walking correctly on it yet, I tend to bounce around like a bunny. But I am fun to watch.
Just make room for me on the couch and have some time to play with me and my heart is yours. I will even be happy to sleep with you all night. As long as you are with me, I am content. I like to be carried like a child on your hip but it isn't neccessary. I will curl into the tiniest ball to make myself a "lap" dog. I am a petitte girl so it is easy. I only weigh 50lbs.
As a young boxer, I will have all of the KEY boxer traits of being fun-loving, bright, and active. As Boxers, we were the first dogs trained in Germany to be police dogs, so we are used to working. What that means is that I need exercise every single day. Take me for a walk or play frisbee or throw the ball for me and then I'll be ready to hang out with my humans for the rest of the day.
YES, we Boxers love humans. As Boxers, one of our key needs is to be with our humans and get our loves and affection. This makes our whole body happy and we wiggle and twist, which is often referred to as the Boxer peanut move!
Remember, we Boxers are strong, quick, and busy. We are always on the move and eternally curious. We need plenty of exercise and we enjoy mental challenges…like how to open a door when you are not home, or how to find the last piece of dogfood that slide under the refrigerator!
I will need exercise every day. So, take me for a walk or a run or throw that ball and once I have done my exercise, I'll be ready to sit back and relax and watch you cook dinner, clean the house, or pay the bills.
I will be a great companion as long as you provide me with the exercise and mental stimulation that I need each day.
If you are looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low maintenance relationship then I am the girl for you. I've got the whole package - smart, furry, four legs, love to learn and live to please. Go ahead, teach me anything. Boxers are very smart and love to learn.
Stay tuned for more information about me or if it is LOVE at first sight, please complete an application for ME! I will love you more than you can imagine.
